From the nights of primitive man, he learned that it was good, and necessary to gather, that fire was useful, gave light and heat, extended the sense of sight in the darkness that surrounded him. Encircled by his own fears he discovered and valued the company of the other. He learned to group, at night, in the open air around the fire. In these circumstances, the stove brings us into contact with the most primitive and elemental human experiences.

Night and fire took on the value of symbols.
